Author and notorious explorer Sir Wilfred Thesiger lived at Milebrook House from
1922 to 1942.

During the Italian invasion of Ethopia in the 1930s - Emperor Haile Selassie took refuge at Milebrook House as guest of Sir Wilfred Thesiger

Another iconic guest of Sir Wilfred was wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill

We do not know if Churchill and Selassie ever spent time together at Milebrook House - let's assume they did!

After the House was converted to a boutique hotel in the late 1980s (later extended with the West Wing in 1996) - a number of well known guests stayed here. The Beckhams were among these.

Mick Jagger stayed here in Room 1. Not the most Rock 'n' roll venue and there are no rumours of misbehaviour

Actor and comedian Barry Humphries stayed at Milebrook House. We have to hope he did so in the guise of Dame Edna Everage...

A regular in the former restaurant here at Milebrook House was local actor Richard Thorp who played Alan Turner in Emmerdale

Politician Michael Heseltine was also a
frequent guest
